As you start gathering your items to go, does your dog start whining, running in circles, jumping on the furniture and even tries to beat you out of the door.  These are the signs of dog separation anxiety.  Just like when we were children, we did not like being left behind and neither does your pet.

Separation anxiety generates uncontrollable stress in your dog.  The stress in your dog can be so extreme, that it can cause him to become destructive.  Tearing up the furniture, chewing on your favorite shoes or even going to the bathroom on the floor.  Keep in mind that this behavior is not to get back at you but is a panic response to a frightening situation (from your dogs point of view).
